Starter Jackets
Starter was founded in 1971 by David Beckerman and initially the company focused on manufacturing athletic uniforms for high school teams. In the early 1980s, Starter began to expand its product line to include professional sports team jackets, tapping into the burgeoning market for fan apparel. The late 1980s saw the explosive rise of Starter jackets as they became synonymous with sports fandom.
The jackets featured bold team colors, large logos, and often boasted a unique and eye-catching design for each team. The satin finish and the iconic Starter logo on the sleeve made these jackets highly recognizable and desirable. Starter jackets became a cultural phenomenon, worn by athletes, celebrities, and fans alike. The jackets eventually expanded to include NFL, NBA, NHL, MLB, and even college teams.
